Pesticide-free pest control! 【Long lifespan & high attraction effect】 Suction-type insect trap.

Insect trap with suction that enhances attraction effects using a special light source.

Insect pest control using insect traps is a clean method that reduces the amount of pesticide application. This insect trap is a product developed in collaboration with the Taoyuan Agricultural Improvement Station, a government agency under Taiwan's Ministry of Agriculture, and a light source manufacturer. It uses a light source that emits wavelengths favored by insects, ranging from 350 to 550 nm (UV-A to green light) along with a photocatalyst. While ultraviolet and green light alone have an attracting effect, the reaction of the photocatalyst generates carbon dioxide, further enhancing the attraction. It employs a cold cathode lamp that is strong against power ON/OFF cycles. The light source has a lifespan of 20,000 hours, which translates to approximately 2 years and 3 months if used 24 hours a day. Since the amount of ultraviolet light gradually decreases, it is recommended to replace the light source approximately every two years. As it is a bulb, replacing the light source is very easy. The attracted insects are sucked in by a fan and accumulate in a net attached to the main unit. By regularly disposing of the insects collected in the net, the net can be reused repeatedly. ■ Achievements ■ Used in fish processing plants, mushroom factories, orchards, and the Osaka Expo (mosquito control), among others.
